My Challenge: Corazon

I came here from the Philippines and I started a hard life that gave me a challenge I never experienced before. I came here with my mother, young bother and sister. We lived with my mother’s cousin her name Carolyn. I was so excited to see the place. My aunt talked to me and she told me we could stay at her house for only one month.

It was really hard for me to find a job at that time because I couldn’t speak English well. I was so scared I needed to do something for my family. After two weeks I found a job and I started to work. I worked two jobs because I knew I really needed money. My mom couldn’t find a job because she didn’t know how to speak English.

The days went so fast. My aunt told me we needed to found another house. I worked hard for my family. I’m paid a rent, electricity, phone and food. Every day I prayed that one day we would have a better life, not the hard life I felt at the time. I transferred my work from Rainbow to another place. I learned to took a bus that I did every day. I knew a lot at place because I wanted to.

I had a friend name Colin, his very nice guy. Since I meet him I felt happy although I had a problem. He became my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I found a house where we would live. My boyfriends helped me for everything. We moved another place and I felt well in the new place. He taught me how to drive because I knew I could go everywhere. And I found English classes where I could go to learn English.
